What are "Just Right" Books?
One of the first skills students practice at the beginning of the year is how to choose a just right book. Students develop the skill of finding a book that interests THEM, yet isn't too easy or too hard. Students learn the "IPICK" strategy, and then decide if the book they chose is too easy, just right, or too hard. Reading just right books will help students comprehend their reading, and develop their fluency. Here are a few posters I have in my classroom that we use as a guide while choosing just right books. Please use them as a guide while helping your child find a just right book : ) I find it so important for students to look forward to reading, and enjoy what they are reading. "Just Right" books help make that possible.
